Question: Book possibly from 1950s - teenagers start a theatre in an old building

I think this was part of a series of books - it was a secret theatre, I got
them in the library when I was 10 or 11 in the early 60's - I can't
remember the names of the children, so not much information sorry, there
might have been some reference to an alley, or stage door, or back door,
and they put on plays there. Written in England I think. Thank you.
